Born and bred in McLaren Vale, the Maxwell family has spent three generations crafting wines from the unique terroir of our limestone hill, with character and just the right amount of curiosity. Founded in 1979 by Mark Maxwell. Perched above the winery, our tasting room has sensational views over the Vale as well a window into the heart of the cellar. While Mark Maxwell and his team proudly introduce you to our wines and mead through a personally guided tasting flight, at the right time of year, you can see the vintage team working their magic in the fermenters below. Discover the nuances brought about by time, terroir and talent over a wine and snack experience accompanied by the scents and sounds of the winery below.

We are family owned, operated, and focussed. We fashion our wines from the best quality grapes from premium vineyards in the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale, including our own boutique McLaren Vale vineyard. Our wines are crafted to showcase the best styles and varietals that the region has to offer. At Sew & Sew Wines we offer three ranges to choose from. The Sashiko range incorporate stitch-craft patterns originating from Japan and were used to reinforce farming clothes. Sashiko wines are everyday, fun wines representing excellent value for money. The Contour range represents the contours of the single vineyards from which we make these wines. Our Contour wines are premium, small batch wines focusing on exceptional quality from fruit to bottle. The ICON range showcases the exceptional quality and uniqueness of our own vineyard in McLaren Vale. The ICON wines are ultra-premium, extremely small batch artisan wines made with an obsession for quality and detail. |
